Keeping up with the Salzmanns (or whatever that family's name is)

While walking Samantha to school one day soon after we moved here I noticed that one of our neighbors had done this to the little area by their front door: Pretty good, right? I liked it and think it's a nice way to make an area low maintenance and not too boring at the same time. This past summer their next door neighbors did this: So, obviously this is totally awesome, way awesomer than two-toned rocks. I first noticed it during the World Cup, so I'm assuming they did it not only to be better than their neighbors but also to support Germany's team. Last week I saw new work going on in their yard and was excited to see what they were doing next. Maybe they had some extra mulch left over. Oh, and maybe they wanted to really cement their status as coolest house on the street. Yeah, cool status cemented German neighbors, way to keep up with the Salzmanns.

'Shrooms

Our yard is a mushroom forest. I think they like it out there because of all the tree stumps everywhere. The stumps seem to be the starting points and then the mushrooms spread out from there. I've even noticed mushrooms growing where there used to be stumps - it's like they remember and don't want to stop growing in their favorite spot. Mostly I think mushrooms are yucky - especially to eat - and I don't really like having them growing in our yard. But sometimes, sometimes, they look pretty to me. Last week was one of those times so I took a few pictures of all the different types growing around the place. Enjoy! Pretty little flower I only saw one like this - sort of bowl shaped and very low to the ground. These cute little ones are what got me interested in, instead of annoyed by all the mushrooms. I think they look like little fluffy dinner rolls or some other delicious baked good. This is what I mean about the 'shrooms spreading out from the stumps These ones...

Can't Even Think

Lately life has been busy. Not just regular busy, but super-duper busy. I read a quote one time, "He who begins too much accomplishes little." Right now I feel as if maybe I have begun too much. Besides the normal responsibilities of kids, husband, home, and church (and really, isn't that enough for one person?), I'm feeling swamped by school and the seemingly constant doctor appointments I've been having lately. This term is my last chance to use some free money the government gave me for school and I didn't want to waste a cent of the $6,000 that is there for me to use. So I decided to take five classes this semester - they're not all at once, thank goodness, but still three now and two later seems like quite a lot to me. I spend every morning while Natalie and Samantha are at kindergarten doing schoolwork. That's twenty hours a week and that should be enough, but I still feel as if I need more time. If I'm being 100% honest, and I think I should...
