It's Was Pretty Hairy for a While There

Image
Last Sunday I was really ambitious and did all the girls hair (except for Madison's because she won't let me without some sort of bribe or threat) and my own as well. Most Sundays I am happy if everyone has brushed their hair and that's as for as we go, so this was a big deal. That's a lot of hair to style and I'm not so great at doing hair, I never have been. It was tricky to get everyone dressed and get their hair fixed up before it was time to leave for church, but we somehow figured it out. Some of us had pretty simple styles, but some of us had hair that was a little more complicated. Abigail is going to be like Madison. She has the gorgeous, thick, red hair but she really, really doesn't like to have anything done. She'll say "Mom, I brushed it, okay. Isn't that enough?" I tried to keep it pretty quick and easy for her to minimize the complaining. Just two ponytails with a little funky part in the back. Oh, and some matching hair ribbons...

Independence Day

For the first time since we've lived here Jared did not have to work security on the Fourth of July, so we were able to celebrate the Fourth together. We talked a lot about being true to ourselves and what we believe. We also talked about enduring and being true throughout our lives. Our ward camp director chose those russion babushka dolls as our symbol because we all want to be little old ladies who have been true for our whole lives. I love to say babushka, it's so fun - babushka, babushka, babushka. The first day of camp was really warm and I got the smallest, tiniest sunburn. It was just a little circle on my neck. I must have missed that one spot when I put on my sunscreen. Once we got to camp we started setting up our tents. We all slept in tents with our years so the second years were all together in one tent. The first night us 2nd years told scary stories and my story was the scariest. Sister Wiedel, our camp director, brought two big canopy tents to ...
