More Birthday Fun

Our Christmas Eve girl, Samantha, had another birthday.  She just keeps getting older and older and is now the big 7!  It was an exciting day with presents and cake and all kinds of birthday fun.  Here's seven great things about Samantha:

  1. She has a great smile and loves to share it with others.  Her smile has made many new kids at school and church feel less scared and more welcome.
  2. She has the biggest ears in our family and loves them - she will proudly tell you "My ears are humongous!"
  3. She is talented.  Samantha can hear a song and then go pick out at least the melody on the piano and sometimes even more than the melody.  Once she learns a song it is in her head and memorized forever.
  4. She's sporty.  Samantha is a good runner.  She will go running with her older sisters and has no problem keeping up with them.  According to her coach (aka Dad) she was the best player on her soccer team this year.
  5. She has style.  She is particular about what she wears and always looks pretty cute.  Lately she's favoring skinny jeans, boots, and scarves.
  6. She is creative.  Samantha is our little designer.  She will come to me with a drawing of a dress or a bag and then ask me to sew it for her and her designs usually turn out well.  Recently she went through my fabric scrap bag and has been designing a collage with a jungle theme.
  7. She is a smarty pants.  Here at home she's getting better and better at reading independently and Samantha is doing very well in school.  According to her teacher she's reading German very well and she's always the first to finish her work - usually without mistakes.

Hmmm, how to explain all these pictures in one . . . I'll start at the top left corner and circle around the picture, ending with the middle, okay?  1.  Sam taking a picture of Jared taking her picture.  2. Trying to get all the candles blown out, but they kept relighting.  3.  Her cake was stripey on the inside!  4.  For the first time ever, one of her birthday presents was in Christmas paper!  I swore this day would never come, but Madison and Emily needed something to put her present in and it's all we had.  5. Making a funny face after opening a present.  6.  Getting ready to blow out the candles and make a wish.  7. Wearing two presents - a scarf from Madison and an apron from mom and dad.  8. Getting ready to open the birthday presents.  9. With all the presents opened.  10.  Happy birthday dear Sammy, happy birthday to you.  11. Samantha with her gift from Emily.  12.  Samantha - our sweet, silly, smart, seven year old!
