Birthday Fun

Our awesome Abigail is eleven!  We love Abby with her beautiful smile and joyful personality.  She's just an amazing girl and we are so happy to have her as part of our family. This year for her birthday we just did the usual things - dinner, presents, and cake.

Here's eleven things you might not know about Abigail:
1.  She has a beautiful face.  I mentioned it above, but her smile is amazing and her eyebrows are the most perfect I've ever seen.  She's got the cutest freckles and is very expressive, making tons of different faces.
2.  She loves to read.  Abigail is always reading one book or another and was honored at school this year for reading over two million words!
3.  She has an amazing voice.  She sings beautifully and happily, in the car, in the shower, at dinner, and (my favorite) to herself when she thinks no one can hear her.
4.  She loves to play the piano.  Abigail is the best at practicing and usually has her songs memorized before her next lesson.  She'll often go ahead in her piano books and teach herself a song or two.
5.  Abigail is a good friend.  A people pleaser at heart, she is really good at thinking about her friends and finding ways to show them she cares.  Plus she's just plain fun to be around.
6.  She's a happy helper.  Even though she sometimes needs help to stay focused on her task, we can always count on Abigail to be willing and happy to help out around the house.
7.  She can run and run.  Abigail joined the running club at school this spring and was placed in the Marathon  group because she was able to keep running forever and ever.
8.  She's super affectionate.  Abigail is a very touchy kid; she loves to cuddle, hold hands, and give hugs.  She used to say that without five hugs a day she'd die.  Her goal each day is the be the first person to hug Jared when he gets home from work.
9.  Abigail is the cool kid.  She can do fun tricks on her bike, she tells funny jokes, she has a crazy sense of fashion (you can see in the pictures above that she likes to wear multiple bracelets on both arms), and she always signs her name with her own special symbols for peace, love, and happiness.
10. She's creative.  Abigail likes to draw, paint, and sketch. She also spends time writing stories and making fun things out of things that should be recycled like cereal boxes paper towel rolls.
11. She's always trying to do the right thing.  Abigail is just a good person.  She's a great example to our whole family of kindness, service, love, and obedience.

For her birthday this year she asked for just a few things - a green boys bike, a trumpet, and family time.  The bike and family time were easy - but the trumpet?  That just wasn't going to happen.

Happy birthday Abigail! We love you!!
