Today marks the one year anniversary of us signing a million papers and closing on our house. In that time we've done lots of work, most of it in the yard, to get this place looking more like our home than someone else's. This spring we focused more inside the house when we redid the downstairs bathroom (see
this post) and shortly after that project was finished we moved across the hall to the master bedroom. So here's the before shot:
 |
| The same curtains that were here when we moved in, bedding we've had since 2010, the walls AND trim painted the same sad off white as the rest of the basement, and the ugly closet doors. Not pictured, the ugly bedroom door! |
And now the after pictures! This room was actually a bit of a piecemeal project. We bought new curtains and bedding in February but didn't get around to choosing a paint and getting it on the walls until April. We owe a big thank you to Jared's mom who came for a visit and got roped into helping me paint the room!

| This is from the bedroom door looking into the room. There's not much to see here except for our new quilt, which I love, and new curtains. I rehung the curtain rod a bit wider than the actual window to make the tiny window in this basement bedroom look a little bit bigger. The color on the walls is Sherwin Williams for HGTV and is called Passive. It's a really nice grey with blue undertones. |

| And here's the same angle from the opposite side of the room. You can see the freshly painted door and door hardware. Sanding and painting the doors was an easy project that made a huge difference in the overall look of the room. We also replaced the heating vent cover, the light switches, and the outlets in this room, just like we did in the bathroom. The old outlets covers were a mix of different eras - some of them looked as if they were actually covered with textured gold wallpaper before they were painted over to match the old wall color! |
We've done a few things inside the house over the warm summer months - painted the laundry room and rearranged our family room - but have mostly been trying to keep our yard under control. I'm excited for fall when we can take a break from weeding and mowing and instead find another room to make our own!
