Picture Day

Last month we had an extended family picture taken with my parents, all of my siblings, and their spouses and children. Being there for the big picture day was one of the main reasons we traveled to Utah this summer. It took quite a lot of logistical work to get all thirty-seven of us in the same place at the same time and in coordinating outfits to boot! It took so much work in fact that we were actually all together for only as long as it took to take the pictures, so for about two hours. Of course the finished photos were lovely, but my favorite shots of the day were the many candid pictures that were taken as we waited to take the actual pictures.

The weather was a bit rainy as we were first arriving at the shoot location so we waited it out under some trees and kept our fingers crossed that our hair would stay pretty.

Natalie loved the umbrellas that our photographer so kindly thought to bring to the shoot

There was even time for the kids to play on the playground as we waited our turns to smile for the camera. A couple of the younger cousins ended up getting their picture clothes a little dirty from playing a little too much. Thankfully there was soap and water in the park's bathroom!

Later that day as I was flipping through the pictures I smiled when I saw that Madison and Ben Passey were unconsciously copying each other's body language .
You know what's scary? Hearing your fifteen year old daughter say that she just wants a baby bump because of her cute little cousin Ethan. Wait at least, hmmm, seven years okay Em?
Yes, sleeping babies are the sweetest thing ever.
Jared and Emily being their naturally awesome selves
Charissa, Jared and I
Mom and Avery
We did eventually take the pictures we came there for as well. In addition to the big group shot we got some individual family ones and some of just the original Keeffer family.

Seeing how difficult it was for my siblings with younger kids to get a good picture (everyone smiling, looking at the camera, etc) made me really appreciate my older kids who know how to pose and smile.
Here's all thirty-seven of us - what a good looking bunch
And just the ten of us
Just me and my siblings for the final picture of the day. Love these guys!
After that last picture was taken and hugs were given all around, we got in the car and started our long drive back to Maryland. I'm so glad we were able to visit our family this summer and for the chance it gave our kids to get to know their extended family a little bit better. Hopefully it won't be another seven years before we're all together again!
