Abby Rose
A little more than sixteen years ago our lives were turned upside down a little bit with the arrival of our very own ray of sunshine, Abigail Rose. Right from the start, Abigail was an easy going girl who somehow connected us all and brought a sense of balance to our family life. Abby is just a fantastic child and we are so blessed she's ours. This year, instead of detailing the things we did to celebrate her birthday, I thought it might be nice to just write about our awesome Abby and some of the things that make her so great and easy to love.
Abby is a fiercely loyal friend and the people she chooses to surround herself are lucky to have her in their lives. Maybe this is because, as the middle child, she understands what it feels like to be occasionally overlooked and she doesn't want anyone in her life to experience that? Whatever the reason, she thinks about her friends and worries about their problems and wants them to be successful. She is genuinely happy for them when their lives are going well and prays for them when they're struggling. Abigail is the kind of person anyone would want to have on their side.
Abigail is a happy girl who finds joy and fun in the everyday. She's always up for a dance party, or is ready to belt out songs in the car, and can be counted on to have puns and jokes for any situation. Because she's so much fun to be around, she is like a happy bridge connecting the older and younger girls in our family. She's just as comfortable talking and having fun with Madison as she is hanging out with Natalie at their weekly Friday night sleepover. Abby really is an important part of our family because of the way she brings us all together with her love of fun and her ability to relate to everyone.
Abigail is strong - both in spirit and in body. She pushes herself hard in all aspects of her life and is successful because of that drive. She has set some lofty goals for herself and she doesn't quit. This summer she spent a couple of hours every weekday lifting weights and working out with the football team because she had a desire to improve her speed for cross country season. She keeps pushing even when it's hard, even when it hurts, and even when other people tell her it's okay to stop trying. She's benefited from the example of her older sisters in this regard and she's taken that example of strength and made it an important part of herself.
She's talented in so many ways and she shines brightly because of those talents. She's a fast runner and a tough soccer player. She is artistic and loves to practice calligraphy and hand lettering and makes everyday notes little works of art. If I need something to look pretty I recruit Abigail. She's a musical genius! Not really, but she's got a heart for music and she's not afraid to share her beautiful voice. It's fun to sing with Abigail because her voice is strong and she makes you feel like a better singer just by singing with her. Abby is a star.
Abigail Rose is our sweet middle child, our funny monkey, our golden girl, and one amazing person.
